The Daniel Patrick Murphy Leadership Listening Center in Ireland
Our Stories...
It is necessary to listen deeply to each other's stories and to realize that we are the authors of our lives. At the River Run Leadership Listening Center we believe that stories are as essential to our lives as running water and that empathic listening quenches our thirst. Our experience, our knowledge and our actions flow within the banks of our stories.

Story is a natural means of understanding: it doesn't replace the skills of analysis or the need for information - stories simply enable us to imagine different options and new perspectives. Organizations become stagnant from a lack of reflection around their stories and can create new narratives that are rooted in personal and human development. The essence of leadership is being aware of our narratives and honoring the creative power of listening to and exploring our stories and the stories of others.

When meaningful conversations contain our emerging stories and are shared within a community of others, when we are deeply listening to and appreciative of the rich and complex context of our and other people's lives, those conversations will change the world and us.

Introducing the Leadership Listening Center
We learn from stories, are inspired by them, and grow through them. Stories converge deep levels of reality. Great leaders are masterful creators of stories and, equally important, are great listeners. Our mission at the Daniel Patrick Murphy Leadership Listening Center is changing business through empathically listening to each other's stories. We help individuals, families, and organizational systems transform their stories through a more engaged form of listening. Listening is participation, not consensus. Story and listening are part of all relationships at the office, in the classroom, the boardroom, or at home. One idea, one creative individual, can be a predominant force in life.

Listening to each other's stories is the keystone that contains the seed for future growth as a leader. Listening to each other enriches and deepens relationships. It is the possible flowing into the actual, dream becoming reality. Connecting with the stories of others through listening enriches and deepens relationships. By listening empathically and actively to each other's stories we bring vitality and clarity to our work and our lives, and we discover our common humanity. We can learn to listen to one another and discover our preferred stories.
